Role Overview

The Technical Officer – Maintenance & Field will be based at AGT’s facilities in Roseworthy, South Australia. This role supports the maintenance, servicing and readiness of AGT’s agricultural field and operational plant, machinery and equipment.

Seasonal Field Support

During peak seasonal periods, the role will support field operations to help meet operational demands across AGT sites. This includes assisting with harvest and seeding as required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Equipment Maintenance and Workshop Operations

· Service, maintain and repair AGT’s fleet of research trial equipment, including harvesters, planting equipment, agricultural vehicles, trailers and mobile plant.

· Diagnose faults and carry out breakdown repairs, preventative maintenance and inspections.

· Fabrication and modifications of trial equipment

· Use workshop equipment to support efficient maintenance activities

· Assist with maintaining inventory levels of stock

· Coordinate and liaise with external service providers as required.

· Maintain a clean, safe and organised workshop environment and follow all workplace health and safety procedures.

Field Operations and Trial Support

· Assist with seeding and harvest activities across field trials using specialised trial equipment.

· Support seasonal casual staff in routine field operations in a safe and productive manner.

· Contribute to team meetings and day-to-day planning for AGT operations.

· Actively participate in staff development activities, field days and campus activities where appropriate.

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

· Trade qualification or relevant experience with agriculture machinery would be preferred

· Heavy vehicle driving license, or willingness to obtain one.

· Forklift license.

· Australian Chemical Users Permit.

· Diagnostic and fault-finding skills.

· Engineering and fabrication aptitude.

· Clean, tidy and attention to detail.

· Microsoft Office skills and experience using systems or providing administrative support.

· Understanding of Australian dryland cropping systems and a broad range of agricultural practices.

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

· Availability to work during peak seasonal periods.

· Availability for intra-state and interstate travel.

· Agricultural research knowledge is advantageous.
